The Santa Rosa County Division of Emergency Management is conducting Disaster Preparedness Training by Navarre’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The training will cover disaster medical treatment, fire extinguisher safety, incident management, disaster preparedness, light search and rescue, and disaster physiology.

The training will be held in several sessions scheduled for the following times.

-- 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. October 29
-- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. November 1
-- 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. November 2
-- 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. November 7
-- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. November 8
-- 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. November 9

All sessions will be held in Navarre at the Holley-Navarre Fire Department, located at 8618 Esplanade Street, except for the November 9 training, which will be held at the Holley-Navarre Seniors Center, located at the corner of James Harvell Road and Presidio Street.
This training will help citizens prepare themselves and their families for disasters, said Brad Baker, emergency services coordinator. It will also provide them with training to help them assist their own community in preparing for and responding to disasters.

Graduates of the training are also eligible to join the Navarre CERT.
